The China Kitchen is a family-owned restaurant first opened on Hereford Street in April 2001. We immediately became recognised for our delicious dumplings which is still our most popular dish today!

After the earthquake that shook Christchurch in February 2011, destroying much of the CBD, we were forced to close our restaurant indefinitely. For several months we awaited the fate of our business before taking the plunge to re-open in Papanui, where we still stand today.

We used this new opportunity to revise our menu, keeping many of the old favourites whilst adding some new dishes. We always strive to use fresh produce and healthier ingredients in our cooking and are proud to use only canola oil and no added MSG.

We are very happy to be able to serve Christchurch again with our version of fresh Chinese cuisine.
